Do you perform any physical examinations?
As a non-medical professional I do not perform any medical procedures. I am happy to assist by answering any procedural questions you may have to the best of my ability.
How will hiring you affect my partner’s role during the birth?
My role as a Doula is not to replace your partner but to help them help you in the best way possible. We will work together before and during labour so your partner feels confident in their ability to support you.
Will you be with me through my entire birth?
I will join you either at home or hospital during early or active labour, depending on what we disucss. I will stay with you through your labour and birth until up to two hours after you give birth.
What if I have a cesarean section?
Doulas can play just as big of a role during a c-section as they would any other time. I can assist you by communicating with you about what's going on in an emergency situation or walking you through the process ahead of time. Depending on the circumstances, I can sometimes be in the OR with you. In addition I can support and educate you about c-section recovery.
